Helping Them Thrive Across The UK

With the health of the nation high on the agenda, a network of community baby banks, that spans the UK, has received a donation from Nature’s Aid, ensuring little ones have access to Vitamin D to support the development of healthy bones and teeth and to support a healthy immune function. Abbernecesities, Little Village and Baby Basics form a network of national baby banks that rely on volunteers and donations to support new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby.

In 2019 alone, 35,000 families across Britain turned to baby banks to provide their little ones with essential items such as clothes, cots and supplements, and this shows no signs of slowing down given the impact of the pandemic. Families are exclusively referred to baby banks such as Abbernecesities, Little Village and Baby Basics by professional health workers, meaning support is given to those who need it most, ensuring parents have access to the essentials they need to help their little ones thrive.

Nature’s Aid has donated a supply of Mini Drops Vitamin D3, with the Department of Health & Social Care recommending all children up to four years take Vitamin D, unless given formula fortified with this nutrient. Getting a healthy dose of Vitamin D is especially important for little ones as it’s required to support the development of healthy bones and teeth and also supports a healthy immune function – even more important as we get towards winter.

Cat Ross, CEO of Baby Basics, says: “As a volunteer-led organisation we fundamentally rely on the support of other brands and businesses, to ensure our at-need families have the sufficient products and tools they need to ensure their babies are given the best start in life. This donation from Nature’s Aid is not only extremely timely and greatly appreciated, but also provides our families with vital supplements that we’ve not been able to provide often enough.”

Now more than ever, people are concerned about getting all the vitamins and minerals they need, particularly nutrients like Vitamin D, Vitamin C and Zinc, which support a healthy immune system – important for all of us, including new-borns and babies. It’s encouraging that there continues to be selfless organisations like Abbernecesities, Little Village and Baby Basics looking out for families in need and we truly hope our donation makes a difference.
