Herbal Medicines (THR) from Natures Aid

Unlike other botanical remedies, some herbal medicines must be put through rigorous testing to be granted a Traditional Herbal Registration (THR license). This is done by testing the quality, safety and more of the herbal remedy to ensure it is fit for purpose and safe.

Herbal Medicine

In 2004, a European Directive on Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products (2004/24/EC) was introduced. Traditional Herbal Registrations are granted by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and require the quality and safety of the product to be demonstrated. Efficacy is based on the traditional use of herbal medicine, provided the claimed pharmacological effects are plausible.

Herbal Remedies

At Natures Aid, we are proud to showcase that in 2009, EchinEeze paved the way for Natures Aid to become the first UK manufacturing company to achieve a Traditional Herbal Registration. Today, we boast one of the largest ranges of Traditional Herbal Remedies in the UK. For more, shop our full collection of herbal remedies available.

Devils Claw is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the relief of backache, rheumatic or muscular pain, and general aches and pains in the muscles and joints. Exclusively based upon long standing use as a traditional remedy. The name of this plant is derived from its fruit, which have large woody hooks – designed to disperse seed – which can occasionally cause irritation to livestock after becoming lodged in the mouth, feet or hooves. The part used for medicinal purposes is the swollen secondary root. Each JointEeze® film-coated tablet contains 300mg of dry extract from Devil’s Claw root (Harpagophytum procumbens D.C. and/or H. Zeyheri L. Decne radix) equivalent to 1050-1500mg of Devil’s Claw root.
